Daviess County and Macon County join 2023 ‘Best of the West’ Field

Two more teams have been announced for this summer’s ‘Best of the West’ 7-on-7 tournament in Hopkinsville. Tournament officials announced Friday morning that Daviess County and Macon County would be returning to take part in the region’s premier passing tournament.

The Daviess County Panthers finished the 2022 season at 7-5, losing to Central Hardin in the 2nd round of the Class 6A playoffs. Senior-to-be quarterback Lake Wilson is scheduled to return for the Panthers in 2023. He had 1647 passing yards last season, with 15 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while sharing time at QB with senior Jack Ball.

Daviess County should also return receivers Luke Floyd and Russ Crowe, who combined for 56 catches, 941 yards, and 8 touchdowns last season.

Macon County High School, of out Lafayette, Tennesse, finished the 2022 season with a record of 8-3. They lost to Red Bank in the first round of the Division 1 Class 4A Tennessee football playoffs.

These two teams join Pearl Cohn, Gibson Southern, Kirkwood, and Kenwood.

The 2023 Best of the West is set for July 14 and 15 at the Stadium of Champions and Tiebreaker Park.
