After beginning the week signing her papers to play softball on the collegiate level, Todd County Central’s Abby McPherson finished her week with a strong pitching performance at Lyon County. McPherson allowed the Lady Lyons just four hits and one unearned run in the first inning as the Lady Rebels picked up a 3-1 road win Friday evening.

McPherson finished the game with five strikeouts and just one walk. While McPherson was controlling the game in the circle, her offense was able to break a 1-1 tie with a run in the fifth and then add an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Rebels took the early lead in the game when McPherson helped her own cause with a solo home run to center in the top of the first to make it 1-0.

Lyon County evened things up in the bottom half of the inning when Lauren Davis scored on a passed ball after leading off the inning with a single.

Todd Central got back to the lead in the top of the fifth. Brooklyn Alder reached base with a one-out single and then scored on a Lyon County error to make it 2-1.

The Lady Rebels added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Averie Luckenbill sent one over the left-field fence.

In addition to her pitching effort, Abby McPherson was 3-3 at the plate with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Addison Woodall was 2-3.

For Lyon County, Lauren Davis, Piper Cotham, Destiny Cayce, and Brenna Breitrick had one hit each.

Cayce went the distance in the circle, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on ten hits, striking out none and walking two.
