Hopkins County Central pitcher Maxwell Clarke pitched a one-hitter as the Storm ended a five-game losing streak Tuesday evening with a 5-1 home win over the Fort Campbell Falcons. The five runs marked the first time the Storm had scored since a 9-3 loss to Livingston Central on April 20.

The Storm broke open a scoreless tie with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Gaige Brasher drove in two runs with a single. Hopkins Central scored two more runs on a two-out Falcon error.

Fort Campbell got one of the runs back in the top of the fourth inning. William Lubas doubled to lead off the inning, the Falcon’s only hit of the game, and then scored on a sac fly off the bat of John Arnold.

From that point on, it was Maxwell Clarke controlling the game. Clarke sat down 10 of the last 11 batters he faced.

The Storm added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th on an RBI single from Jaden Brasher.

Aidan Blaszkowski was tagged with the loss for the Falcons. He went 3 2/3-innings, giving up four runs, just two of the earned, on four hits, striking out four and walking two.

Maxwell Clarke finished the game for Central going all seven innings, striking out nine and walking just one.
