Could Cincinnati be a Potential Landing Spot for Free Agent Benny Snell?

Now that the NFL draft is over, teams will now start concentrating more on either signing free agents already on their team or looking more at free agents to fill roster voids.

Former Kentucky running back Benny Snell has played four years for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last season he played 284 special teams snaps but was the clear third running back behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.

Snell has 275 carries for 982 yards — 3.6 yards per carry — in 63 career games. He has scored seven touchdowns and has lost only three fumbles.

Pittsburgh didn’t pick any running backs in the draft and that could be good news for Snell because he’s a free agent who still does not have a contract for next season.

Before the draft, Kentucky associate coach Vince Marrow hinted that he thought the Cincinnati Bengals were “very high” on UK running back Chris Rodriguez.

“I know a couple of teams have contacted Benny’s agent,” Marrow said before the draft. “Benny has played four years and I know the Steelers still want him.

“When you are a four-year player and a running back who can come in and be a productive player and special teams player, people want you. I know four or five teams that have talked about him and one (Cincinnati) is very close to here.

“They (the Bengals) are very interested (in Snell) and also very interested in Chris. So maybe we’ll end up having a UK running back close to here next year.”
