Maybe Hunter Dickinson will still commit to Kentucky but when the Michigan all-American left the UK campus last week without making a commitment to transfer to UK, I immediately thought the chance of him picking the Wildcats was not as great as many had seemed to think.
Dickinson said during his weekly appearance on RoundBall Podcast that he was not ready to make a new college choice yet but now is saying he will make the choice today.
“I did tell teams that I was hoping to know today where I was going, but I never said I was going to announce where I was going,” Dickinson said during the podcast earlier this week. “I still don’t know, but I would like to figure it out sooner rather than later because I can’t deal with this anymore. It’s exhausting.”
He said he was “struggling” to pick his next school even though he apparently is now ready to do that today.
Dickinson is considering Kansas, Maryland, Villanova, Syracuse, Georgetown and obviously Kentucky.
Speculation has been that Dickinson is not only looking for the best fit basketball-wise but also the school where he can make the most NIL money — and no one can blame him for that. He’s already shown NBA personnel what he can do the last two years at Michigan and is not apt to dramatically improve his game no matter which school he picks. So why not let the money be a factor in the final choice?
Kentucky coach John Calipari has insisted he will not guarantee NIL money. Instead, the UK coach notes how UK players have fared with NIL money when they have earned it with play on the court.
Dickinson did note on the podcast earlier this week that Claipari had talked about having a new strength coach.
“And he was hiring somebody else on the staff as like a player development guy. So I felt like if I were to choose Kentucky, those would be two really important things in my decision, and so I was like, I might as well go down there for a day and meet them,” Dickinson said about his visit to UK.

If he is only coming here for the money, let him go somewhere else. We already have Onyenso, Bradshaw, Ware, and possibly Oscar coming back. Another big will end up screwing over Onyenso again.
He’s a Kansas bound in my opinion
Yep, Self is not above paying for players.
Surprise to hear Lance ware is moving on.
The supposed lifetime contract that Calipari has actually runs through 2029. Nobody wants him, so we will be stuck with him until then. He obviously has no shame in being the most overrated and overpaid coach ever and could not care less about what he is doing to our program.
