Top Fives by Tullis, Cansler Lead Hoptown at Area 1 Championships

DeAijha Tullis and Grace Cansler brought home top-five finishes Saturday to lead Hopkinsville High at the Area 1 Championships at McCracken County High School.

HURDLES

Tullis finished in fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.5 seconds.

FIELD EVENTS

Tullis came in fourth place in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches. She also took fourth in the triple jump with a personal-best distance of 33 feet, 6.5 inches.

TaLaijha Cherry was 18th in the shot put at 24 feet, 11 inches, while Alexandria Williams was 19th at 24 feet, 3 inches.

Williams came in fifth place with a personal best distance of 94ft in the discus throw while Cherry’s toss of 50 feet, 2 inches was good for 33rd place.

Kaylyn Lynch came in 23rd place in the long jump at 12 feet, 8 inches and was 19th in the triple jump at 25 feet.

SPRINTS

Grace Cansler set a personal best in the 400-meter dash. She came in third place in 1:03.93.

In the 100-meter dash, Lazia Gill was 23rd with a time of 14.84 seconds, while Kaylyn Lynch was 27th with a personal best time of 15.58 seconds.

Annariah Settles was 9th in the 400 meters in 1:06.6 seconds.

In the 200 meters. Cansler came in 9th place in 28.4 seconds, while Amaya Burse was 16th in 29.74 seconds.

RELAYS

The 3200-meter team of Kaylyn Lynch, Grace Cansler, Amaya Burse, and Lynette Nolan finished in 11th place with a time of 12:02.45.

As a team, Hopkinsville scored 25 points to finish in 11th place, one point behind 10th place St. Mary, and two points behind both Christian County and Madisonville
