The Heritage Christian Lady Warriors and the McLean County Lady Cougars combined for 34 hits Tuesday afternoon but it was the Lady Cougars who made the most of their 18 hits as McLean County outscored HCA 14-10 on the Lady Warriors’ home field. The game was the first ever between the two programs.

McLean County scored three in the top of the first to get the early lead. The Lady Warriors then responded with four in their half of the opening inning. Heritage strung together five straight singles as a part of the rally to take a 4-3 lead.

McLean County then took control of the game with five runs in the second and two more in the top of the third to go up 10-4. The big blow in those two innings was a 2-run inside-the-park home run from Sophie Frailley.

Heritage would close to within 11-10 with three-run innings in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the fifth. But the Lady Cougars then secured the win with two runs in the sixth and one more in the top of the seventh.

Madison Warren had a monster night for HCA going 4-5 with a triple, five RBIs, and two runs scored. Kennedy Hughes was 4-4 with an RBI. Hadlee Hayes finished the game 3-5 with two RBIs for the Lady Warriors.
