
The Caldwell County Tigers will have one singles entry and one doubles entry advance on to the state tennis tournament. That was determined during the first two rounds of the 2nd Region boys’ tennis tournament Tuesday in Henderson.
Top singles seed Ryan Hammett rolled through his day Tuesday. Hammett started off by cruising past Eli Pinkerton, of Madisonville, 6-0, 6-0. The second match for Hammett was more of the same. He took out Weston Wint, of Webster County, 6-2 and 6-0. The wins advance Hammett to the semifinal and on to the state tennis tournament.
The day did not go quite as well for Noah Bailey, who fell in his first match to Kaleb Rust, of Union County, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Grayden Miller and Nick Adams are in the regional doubles semifinals and headed on to the state tournament. Miller and Adams won their opening match 6-2, 7-5 and then moved on to the semis with with a 6-0, 6-2 win over the Hopkins Central pair of Byrum and Mackey.
The semifinals and finals are set to be played Wednesday in Henderson.
