Caldwell’s Girls Bow to Madisonville in 7th District Final

Caldwell County’s girls were held to just one base hit by Mackenzie Stoltz as Madisonville-North Hopkins secured the 7th District softball championship 10-0 Tuesday night in Mortons Gap.

The Lady Maroons (26-6) used four-run innings in the first and third, and added two more runs in the second while ending the game in five innings on the 10-run mercy rule.

Chloe Young was 2-for-2 and drove in three runs for Madisonville while Stoltz was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI as the Lady Maroons totaled 14 base hits in the victory.

Stoltz struck out eight and walked none in the triumph.

Alicia Stanley tripled for Caldwell’s lone hit.

Both the Lady Maroons and Lady Tigers advance to the 2nd Region tournament later this week.
