Just a day after qualifying for her first-ever berth in the girls’ state tennis tournament, it was not the result Tuesday that Lyon County’s Anna Crawford was hoping for in the 2nd Region semifinals. But, she still has that state tournament appearance to look forward to.
Crawford was upended in the semifinals by Webster County’s Sara Welshans in a match that was more closely played than the final score would indicate. Welshans took the match 6-2, 6-0, but there were numerous close games throughout the match and several deuce games played between the two.
After the match, YourSportsEdge.Com spoke with Crawford about her tournament and looking ahead to her first trip to Lexington for the girls’ state tourney.
