Caldwell County’s Grayden Miller and Nick Adams took down Lyon County’s top-seeded team to claim the championship of the boys’ 2nd Region Tennis Tournament in Henderson on Wednesday afternoon.
Miller and Adams, seeded second, claimed a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 victory over Dalton Phillips and Jackson Crawford.
It’s the second-straight regional doubles championship for Miller, who teamed with Billy Wallace to claim the title last season.
But Wallace graduated after that run, giving Adams a chance to team with Miller this season.
Miller and Adams advanced to the championship match by dismissing the Madisonville-North Hopkins duo of Ethan Larkins and Braeden Bell 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals earlier Wednesday.
The Caldwell tandem had won their first two matches on Tuesday 6-2, 7-5 and 6-0, 6-2.
Caldwell’s boys have won the regional team title each of the past two seasons. The doubles championship keeps the Tigers’ hopes of a three-peat alive going into Thursday’s singles championship.
The KHSAA State Tennis Championships will take place May 30-June 1 in Lexington.
