He knows a lot is going to be expected of him but Lexington Christian Academy quarterback Cutter Boley already knows the best way to handle that.

“I’m just going to be me,” Boley said after announcing his commitment Thursday to hometown Kentucky over Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State and Florida State. “One of the reasons I went ahead and got this out of the way is I feel like we have a state championship team here at LCA.

“I want to go win state. That’s what I want to do this year. I don’t really feel that pressure. I just go out there and play. It’s got me this far, so I won’t get nervous now.”

The highly-rated quarterback had his choice of schools. LCA coach Doug Charles said 61 coaches had been at the school to recruit Boley, who also reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class and will enroll at UK in January.

“I am talking about everybody… Oregon, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State. All of them have been here. It has been a whirlwind. LSU was here again this week,” the LCA coach said.

As hard as others recruited him, Kentucky always had an edge. Boley was first recruited at UK by associate head coach Vince Marrow and then offensive coordinator Liam Coen who left after the 2021 season but is back at UK for the 2023 season.

“I grew up here in the state, it’s in my heart,” Boley said. “That’s where I want to be. It’s always been where I wanted to play.”

“Coach Coen came back and we got that relationship built. After he came back we connected quick. I think he’s gonna be one of the best offensive coordinators in the nation and at some point a head coach at the college level.

“I just feel like he’s going to put me in the best position to showcase myself for the NFL in terms of the style of offense he runs. I feel that offense best represents the style of play I want to run from shotgun and under center. I feel like I’m really getting both and being put in a good position overall.”

Boley is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 9 quarterback and No. 138 prospect overall while the 247Sports Composite has him at No. 6 and No. 72 respectively. The 6-5 Boley threw for 3,901 yards and 36 touchdowns last season and is ranked as the state’s No. 1 player.

He likes the level the Kentucky program has reached under coach Mark Stoops.

“He completely flipped the program around from us being happy to win four games, with the fans now expecting us to win seven and eight and more and more every year,” Boley said after making his commitment.

“Our fans are expecting 10 wins every season. I feel Kentucky is getting better and I want to be part of that and hopefully take them to the next level.”
