Whites Creek and Maplewood to Play in ‘Best of the West’

Two teams from ‘South of the Border’ are the latest to join the field for this summer’s ‘Best of the West’ 7-on-7 passing tournament in Hopkinsville. Tournament officials announced Friday that the Maplewood Panthers, from Nashville, and the Whites Creek Cobras, would be taking part in the event.

Maplewood, out of Davidson County, went 3-8 last season, losing 47-6 to Fairview in the opening round of the Tennessee Class 3A playoffs. The Panthers wins came over Jackson County, Stratford, and RePublic.

Whites Creek, also from Davidson County, was 2-8 last season. The Cobras’ wins came over Glencliff and Cheatham County.

Whites Creek and Maplewood join South Warren, West Creek, Daviess County, Macon County, Pearl Cohn, Gibson Southern, Kirkwood, Kenwood, Paducah Tilghman, and Logan County in this summer’s event.

The 2023 Best of the West is set for July 14 and 15 at the Stadium of Champions and Tiebreaker Park.
