Christian County will have at least one entry at next week’s state track and field meet following an eighth-place finish at Tuesday’s Class 3A Region 1 Meet at Marshall County High School.
The top two finishers at the region automatically advance to the state meet, while the following ten best times/distances statewide also advance.
SPRINTS
Katieann Thompson finished second in the 400-meter run (1:01.29) and qualified for the state meet.
Jayda Johnson finished in sixth place in the 200-meter dash (27.42).
Kaidence Atwell finished 12th in the 100-meter dash (13.71) and Genesis McGee was 19th (14.96).
Debony Anderson came in 12th place in the 800-meter run (3:02.35) and 14th place in the 400 meters (1:12.67).
Kaliyah Leavell was 16th in the 200 meters (30.47).
HURDLES
Julia Munoz was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (52.15).
FIELD EVENTS
Julia Munoz was fourth in the long jump (14-11.50).
RELAYS
The 400-meter relay team was fourth in 53.05 seconds.. The 1600-meter relay team was fifth (4:32.92) and the 800-meter relay team was sixth (1:53.09).
