
The three entries from Caldwell County High School will open play Tuesday morning in the boys’ and girls’ state tennis tournaments. The tournaments are being played in Lexington.
Ryan Hammett, the 2nd Region boys’ singles champion, was done no favor in this year’s boys’ singles draw. Hammett will take on Samuel Gurevich, from North Oldham High School. Gurevich is one of the top eight seeds in the tournament. That match is set for Tuesday morning at 8:00.
In boys’ doubles play, the Caldwell County pairing of Nick Adams and Grayden Miller get rolling Tuesday morning at 9:15. The 2nd Region champs will square off against Daniel Campbell and Jacob Parman, from South Laurel. Campbell and Parman lost in the 13th Region semifinals.
In girls’ doubles play, Caldwell County’s Rachel McClung and Keegan Miller will take to the court at 11:15 am Tuesday. McClung and Miller, who finished 2nd in the regional tournament are paired up against Sharayu Deo and Elizabeth Bryant, of duPont Manual High School.
The winners in Tuesday’s opening rounds will play their second round matches later in the day.
