One of the top defensive softball players in the 2nd Region has decided upon a college home.
Caldwell County’s A.J. Hollowell announced Friday afternoon that she will play at Frontier Community College in Fairfield, Illinois.
When Hollowell wasn’t making outstanding diving catches in the Caldwell outfield, she was hitting a team-high .475 at the plate as the Lady Tigers went 18-13 this past season and reached the championship game of the 2nd Region tournament.
Hollowell led Caldwell with 48 base hits and was second on the team in stolen bases with 21.
As a junior in 2022, Hollowell batted .474 as the Lady Tigers reached the regional semifinals while finishing 16-13.
Hollowell hit an even .500 as a sophomore and is a career .467 hitter at Caldwell County.
Hollowell will not be the first Caldwell grad to play for the Bobcats. Emma Staples played at Frontier College in 2020 and 2021.
Frontier College competes in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
The Bobcats went 30-24 this past season.
