With their first full season of KHSAA competition looming on the horizon in the spring of 2024, there will be change in leadership for the Heritage Christian Academy softball program. In a very brief statement late Monday, school officials announced that the contract of Coach Darren Longar was not being renewed.
In the statement, Athletic Director Matt McGowan stated ‘We want to thank Coach Longar for the past three years of service to the softball program.”
In the 2023 season, Longar led the Lady Warriors to the KCAA state championship in the school’s final season of KCAA competition. It was the school’s first KCAA championship since 2015.
No timetable for hiring a new head softball coach was mentioned in the news release.
