Adding Oklahoma and Texas to the Southeastern Conference will only make the SEC competition even tougher for Kentucky but that’s fine with UK offensive coordinator Liam Coen.

“I have never been to either place. The tradition and history they both bring into the fold. I do not see how it could be bad for college football,” Coen said Wednesday at the Louisville Quarterback Club.

“We play at Austin in (20)24. It’s a great place to watch a game and compete. We are extremely excited Texas and Oklahoma are joining. It will be more great competition”

Kentucky gets to host Alabama this season, another game Coen is excited to be part of with the Cats.

“It does not get any better than that when you get to coach and play against the best,” Coen said. “I have a ton of respect for that program and can’t wait to compete against them.

“What a great atmosphere it will be. I hope Kroger (Field) will be rockin’ that day.”
