Liam Coen has not had any trouble targeting the quarterback he wants to play for him at Kentucky.
Two years ago Penn State transfer Will Levis was his top target. When he returned to Kentucky in January, he went after North Carolina State transfer Devin Leary. He got both of them.
In the 2024 recruiting class, he set his sights on Lexington Christian quarterback Cutter Boley — and he’s already committed.
Now it looks like Coen already has a top 2025 target in mind in Pennsylvania junior Stone Saunders. The 6-2, 200-pound Saunders announced on Twitter Tuesday that he had cut his list of schools to Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, and Miami (FL). He will make his college choice Aug. 4 before his junior season at Harrisburg Bishop McDevitt starts.
ESPN and Rivals both rank Saunders as a four-star player and ESPN has him as the No. 12 quarterback in his recruiting class.
In 14 games last season, he threw for 3,583 yards and 54 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He completed 69 percent of his passes and led his team to a 13-1 record and Class 4A state title. He has thrown for 101 touchdowns combined the last two seasons.
He was also named the 2022 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year .
Coen offered Saunders a scholarship in January and he has made three unofficial visits to Kentucky, the same number he has made to Nebraska.
