Kentucky football’s hot recruiting streak continued Wednesday when 6-3, 215-pound Caleb Redd of St. Louis made his verbal commitment to the Wildcats.
He’s a three-star prospect who had also already made official visits to USC and Oklahoma earlier this month but UK assistant Frank Buffano, his primary recruiter, and the Cats closed the deal on his recent visit.
The edge rusher had a breakout 2022 season when he had 21 quarterback sacks among his 63 total tackles.
He had 21 total scholarship offers including Iowa State, Nebraska, Arizona, Oregon, Wisconsin, USC, Oklahoma, Iowa, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Iowa State and Purdue.

Kentucky also remains in a solid spot with four-star defensive back Terhyon Nichols of Cincinnati Withrow High School, an ESPN top 300 player.
He has narrowed his top six schools to Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Cincinnati and Kentucky. He will make his college announcement Sunday at 7 p.m.
What I like about the 5-11, 180-pound Nichols, who also had a scholarship offer from Alabama, is that the only SEC school or school south of Cincinnati on his final list is Kentucky.
His Twitter profile lists his grade-point average at 4.55, so he’s obviously sharp off the field and having Kentucky included on that final list as the only SEC school certainly seems like a hopeful sign for the Cats.

Redd is Kentucky’s 10th commitment in the 2024 class. Others are:Taylor County offensive lineman Hayes Johnson, Lexington Christian quarterback Cutter Boley, Atlanta linebacker Antwan Smith, Florida running back Tavoni Mizell, Connecticut offensive lineman Jadon Lafontant, Montana kicker Jacob Kauwe, Simon Kenton offensive lineman Aba Selm, Georgia cornerback Jiquavious Marshall and Covington Catholic tight end Willie Rodriguez.
