It’s four straight days of football talk at the Southeastern Conference Football Media Days in Nashville and Monday one of the coaches available was Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz, who lost 21-17 to visiting Kentucky last season.
Like every coach likely will be during his time in Nashville, Drinkwitz took time to join the Paul Finebaum Show and the Missouri coach decided to share a story about a summer encounter with Kentucky coach Mark Stoops at the beach.
“We took my family down there (at the beach). There’s a riptide in front of us so they tell us we got to move 100 yards down the beach. We walk down the beach and I look and this guy starts walking toward me,” the Missouri coach said. “And I’m like, ‘That guy looks familiar.’ Mark Stoops.
“In this country, in this league, you can’t avoid SEC coaches, they’re everywhere. Told him Kentucky sucked, he had a good laugh about it. Traded a few lines and both of us said, ‘Hey man, we’re on vacation, let’s go our separate ways.’”
Kentucky will host Missouri on Oct. 14.
