Trigg County golfer Haydon Reynolds used a solid performance to snag a Top 25 finish as the 2023 golf season got underway Friday with the Daviess County Invitational. Reynolds finished his day on the course at Ben Hawes State Park with a round of 79.
That score placed Reynolds in a seven-way tie for 22nd place in the individual competition. Reynolds shot a 37 on his first nine holes but then struggled a bit on the back nine of his round with a 42.
Coach Doug Hargrove noted that Reynolds hit his irons solid and rolled the ball well on the greens at Ben Hawes.
Bowling Green’s Reed Richey took medalist honors with a sizzling round of 64. Grant Broughton, of Daviess County, was second with a round of 69.
Bowling Green claimed the team title, winning by 13 strokes. The Purples had a team score of 296. Marshall County finished second with a 309. Madisonvillle-North Hopkins took third place, one shot behind Marshall County with a 310.
