You’ll have to excuse three-quarters of Lyon County’s golf team if they don’t start the golf season with low scores. They’ve been busy with another sport – basketball.
The Lyons opened the 2023 golf season with a 15th-place finish in a loaded field Tuesday at the Marshall County Invitational at the Calvert City Country Club.
Travis Perry, who has been busy on the basketball circuit as a member of Kentucky’s Junior All-Stars and later a trip to Europe, finished his round strong with a pair of birdies and ended with a 2-over-par 74, good for an 11th-place tie.
Brady Shoulders and Jack Reddick have also been busy on the hardwood this summer. Shoulders shot an 87 and Reddick added a 101. Grant Wiggins rounded out the Lyon County scorecard with a 117.
As a team, Lyon County totaled 379 points. Marshall County took the team title with 302 points.
Daviess County’s Grant Broughton and Greenwood’s Jacob Lang both shot a 2-under-par 70 with Broughton winning on the third playoff hole.
