Bannister’s Four Goals Lead Lyon to Scrimmage Win at Russellville

Colt Bannister was actually hotter than the weather for the Lyon County Lyons Thursday evening at Russellville. Bannister scored four first-half goals to help Lyon County to a 5-4 scrimmage win over the Panthers.

Bannister scored his goal over a 22-minute span of the opening half as the Lyons overcame an early 2-0 deficit.

After controlling the early pace, the Panthers scored twice in 60 seconds to take the 2-0 lead.

Fifty seconds after the second goal for Russellville, Bannister intercepted a pass and drove down the field, finding the net and cutting the lead to 2-1.

Just over two minutes later, the Panthers got the goal back and took a 3-1 lead.

At the 26:00 mark, Bannister took a pass and found the net to make it a 3-2 Russellville lead. Two minutes later, he broke clear on a run down the left side, crossed to the middle, and found the net to tie the match at 3-3. At the 38:00, Bannister took a pass from the right side and drilled it into the net to give Lyon County the lead for the first time at 4-3.

Inside the final minute of the first half, Lyon County’s Deven Guess got clear on a run down the left side and found the net to extend the lead to 5-3 at the break.

The Panthers scored at the 48:00 mark to cut the lead to 5-4, but that would be as close as they got. The Lyons got some big defensive plays down the stretch, including some big stops in goal from Jackson Crawford as the Lyons held on for the win.
