With a new coach leading the way, the Christian County Lady Colonels’ volleyball team made a trip to Lexington over the weekend and came away with three wins. Christian County was among the teams taking part in the 2023 Bluegrass State Games.
Christian County got things rolling Friday with the first of two days of pool play. The Lady Colonels lost a tough three-set match to Graves County, with Christian County winning the opening set 21-13, only to see the Lady Eagles come back to close out the match 21-18, and 15-9. Christian County would then fall to Raceland in straight sets 21-14 and 21-17.
The Lady Colonels were back in action Saturday and opened the day with a 22-20, 21-18 win over Louisville Central. Christian County then dropped a match with Southwestern 21-19 and 21-13. The Lady Colonels finished out pool play with a 21-14, 21-14 win over Betsy Layne.
The results of the two days of pool play placed Christian County in the Varsity Flight 7 bracket, where they faced a first-round matchup against Adair County. The Lady Colonels picked up the first-round win 2-1, but then saw their stay at the games ended with a semifinal loss to Paintsville 2-1.
Christian County finished the weekend at the Bluegrass State Games with a record of 3-4.
