When Carson Powell walked off the course Monday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club, his score became the first one recorded by a Heritage Christian Academy golfer in a Kentucky High School Athletic Association golf match.
HCA petitioned two years ago to become a member of the KHSAA, leaving behind the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association. After a probationary period, the Warrior program is a full member of the KHSAA this season.
Powell won the KCAA state title in the spring and has now moved his game to the fall. He shot a 52 on each side of the course and finished with a score of 104, which was good for 94th place.
Only a junior, Powell has his sights set on continuing to lower his score throughout the 2023 season.
