Could one of the most valuable players Kentucky landed in the transfer portal turn out to be Alex Raynor?
Quarterback Devin Leary, running back Ray Davis, and tackles Marques Cox and Courtland Ford have all been the names mentioned the most after joining the UK football program.
So who is Raynor?
He’s a graduate transfer from Georgia Southern and is so highly regarded that he was one of only 30 kickers named to the Lou Groza Award Watch List Wednesday.
Raynor certainly comes to UK with impressive statistics and obviously was recruited by new special teams coordinator Jay Boulware. He was in 36 games at Georgia Southern and made 45 of 59 field goals and 110 of 113 extra point kicks to amass 245 points.
For a team that had its share of special teams miscues last year, those numbers certainly pop out for consistency and accuracy.
Raynor was also a three-time member of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll. He graduated in May with a degree in marketing and is working on an undergraduate certificate in business at UK.
