With a bunch of new faces in several key places, it was a solid effort for the Todd County Central Rebels in their first preseason scrimmage Friday night. The Rebels struck three times through the air on their way to a 20-12 win over Houston County.
The Irish took the early lead in the scrimmage, catching lightning in a bottle on the second play of the scrimmage for a 69-yard touchdown pass. Most of the yardage was after the catch, which was on a dump pass into the middle of the field.
The Rebels came back to tie the game on a 24-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Miles Reding to B.J. Farlow.
In the second portion of the varsity scrimmage, Houston County struck on another big play, this time a 53-yard run on a pitch to the right to go back in front 12-6.

The Rebels came back and took the lead when Miles Reding hit Antonio Fitzgerald for a 23-yard touchdown pass. It was the second time Fitzgerald found the end zone on the drive, the first, and longer reception, was called back on a block in the back call well away from the play. B.J. Farlow scored the two-point conversion to put the Rebels up 14-12.
The Rebels then closed the door on the Irish for the rest of the scrimmage and found the end zone themselves one more time. Miles Reding, who played nothing like a freshman after the opening drive of the night, hit B.J. Farlow for a 24-yard score on a rollout to give the Rebels the final 20-12 margin in varsity play.
Todd County Central will scrimmage Jo Byrns next Friday night at East Robertson and the open the season August 18 on the road at Monroe County.
