
The Hopkinsville football team continued preparing for the upcoming season with a 19-13 scrimmage victory over visiting Russellville on Friday at the Stadium of Champions.
The Tigers jumped out to a 12-0 advantage early in the last of two quarters and prevailed despite a pair of Panther touchdowns over the final eight minutes.
Hopkinsville scored on a one-yard run with 7:16 left in the opening quarter and added a second touchdown with 8:43 left to play in the second.
Russellville answered with an 80-yard scoring scamper before the Tigers restored their two-score advantage on a 14-yard TD pass with 3:08 left. The Panthers found the endzone on a short plunge on the final play for both teams’ varsity squads.
