Caldwell County’s guys opened the season on Monday but dropped a 4-1 decision to Webster County in soccer action at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
Webster scored twice in the game’s first 5 minutes to take an early 2-0 lead.
Caldwell cut the margin in half in the 63rd minute when Ben Jones converted a penalty kick.
But the Tigers could not ride the momentum to a tying goal.
Instead, Webster scored in the 69th minute to go up 3-1, then snuck in another goal just ahead of the final whistle to make it a 4-1 game.
The visiting Trojans held a 20-5 advantage in shots.
Corbin Nichols made nine saves in the Tiger net.
The Tigers will be in action again on Thursday when they visit 7th District foe Madisonville-North Hopkins.
