Maybe the delay in their arrival was a bit of an omen Thursday evening for the Christian County Colonels. After arriving a bit late for the start of their match against the Murray Tigers, the Colonels saw Murray bolt out to a quick start and pick up a 7-0 win on their home field.
The match was the season opener for both teams. Christian County had been set to open the season on Monday night but that match had to be canceled due to the shortage of officials in the 2nd Region.
The Tigers had goals from Nate Wyatt, Max Rosa, and Kellen Crouch in the first 13 minutes of the match to take a 3-0 lead. Rosa, Wyatt, and Owen Riddle added goals over the final 27 minutes of the opening half as Murray pushed the lead out to 6-0 at the break.
Brodie Morris added a goal in the second half for Murray as the Tigers closed out a 7-0 win.
The Murray defense was stifling throughout the match, limiting the Colonels to just one shot on goal for the night.
Christian County opens the season at 0-1 with the loss. The Colonels are set to be back in action when they host Muhlenberg County.
