A Zack Robinson penalty kick provided the only goal the Todd County Central boys’ soccer team would need on Thursday at Muhlenberg County, with the Rebels collecting their first shutout of the season to move to 2-1.

A physical, back-and-forth first half didn’t yield a goal before the Rebels began to dictate play after the break.  Wary of Muhlenberg’s counter-attack opportunities, Todd Central finally saw their efforts rewarded with 15 minutes to play when Chi Herrara picked out Ivan Lopez in the 18-yard box.  Lopez was taken down and the referee pointed to the spot, with Robinson converting for the game’s only goal.

Rebel goalkeeper Ric Garcia-Sears had nine saves on the night, including a huge stop in the final five minutes to preserve the victory.

Muhlenberg goalkeeper Oak Shain was busy between the posts, knocking away 19 shots for the 0-2-1 Mustangs.

Todd Central will welcome Owensboro Catholic to Elkton on Saturday in a rematch of last season’s All-A Sectional game, won 2-0 by the Aces.
