The University Heights Academy Blazers used a strong offensive performance to pick up their first win of the season Monday evening. Griffin McCoy found the net four times as the Blazers cruised to a 7-1 win over the Hopkins Central Storm.

The match was played at Givens Field at UHA due to field conditions at Hopkins Central.

McCoy scored the first goal of the night at 13:23 off an assist from Lincoln Hauret to put the Blazers up 1-0. McCoy then assisted on a goal from Logan Miller less than three minutes later as the lead grew to 2-0.

Central got on the board near the 20:00 mark when the Blazers were called for a violation in the box and Riley Dunlap scored the penalty kick to make it 2-1.

Griffin McCoy scored again at the 29:15 mark to make it a 3-1 match. Logan Miller provided the assist.

That score held until halfway through the second half when Clayton Lester found the net to push the lead to 4-1. McCoy scored two goals in a 60-second span from the 61:00 to the 62:00 as the lead increased to 6-1. Clayton Lester scored his second goal of the night just a minute later to finish the scoring on the night.

The Blazer defense did a good job of keeping pressure off keeper Quinton Quarles. Quarles finished the night with just one save.

The Blazers now stand at 1-3-1 on the season. They are back in action Tuesday night at Heritage Christian as they take on Lyon County in a semifinal match in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
