First-year head coach Madison Rogers and the Trigg County volleyball team opened the season with a 2-0 defeat at McLean County on Monday, the eighth-straight time dating back to 2015 that the Lady Wildcats began 0-1.
The Lady Cougars took the opening set 25-12 before winning the second 25-6.
Rogers had to make some late changes to the rotations due to injuries but said she was pleased with the effort. She felt the team “got in their heads” during the second set and singled out senior Morgan Hicks for her passing and court coverage.
Trigg County will open 5th-District play when Livingston Central visits on Tuesday. The Lady Cardinals have won ten of the last 11 matches in the series, including the last four.
