Three Trigg County Lady Wildcats scored three goals apiece to help them pull away from Union County for a 10-0 win Monday at the Complex.

Lania Hite was one of the three players to earn the hat trick. Her goal inside the box in the 68th was her 11th of the season and 100th of her career. She is only the second Trigg player (Lauren Frazier – 140) to score 100 goals and the 14th player in the Second Region to accomplish the feat.

Her goal with two minutes left ended the contest via the mercy rule.

Addison Humphries and Leiah Hite also tallied three goals, while Leiah also contributed three assists.

Scoring was tough to come by early as Union County dropped three defenders and a sweeper throughout the first half in an attempt to keep Leiah Hite from getting wide and Lania from controlling the ball out front.

Through the work of Maggie Wolfe and Camryn Boone, Trigg County kept the ball on their end of the field for most of the match, outshooting the Bravettes 21-1.

Lanie Hite finally broke through with a goal in the 27th minute. Humphries scored her first goal off an assist from Maggie Wolfe five minutes later for a 2-0 advantage the Lady Wildcats would enjoy at halftime.

Union County goalie Kylie Cross kept her team in the game with several point-blank saves off Trigg County kicks in front.

Trigg’s continued assault on the goal eventually wore Union down with Hallie Joiner starting a 12-minute stretch where the Lady Wildcats scored five times. Joiner would also assist on a Trigg tally in the half.

Anna Sink saw one shot on goal and made the save for Trigg, who defeated Union County for the 14th straight time dating back to 2005.

The Lady Wildcats are 3-0 for the first time since 2009 and have outscored their opponents 26-4.

While Union County is an improved squad from a year ago, they fell to 1-4 with their second straight shutout loss.

Trigg County will host Paducah Tilghman Thursday in a Class 2A Sectional contest at the Complex. The Lady Wildcats are looking to return to the sectional championship match for a second straight season.
