After losing their opener by ten goals to Caldwell County, the Christian County Lady Colonels responded by picking up their first win of the season Thursday night. The Lady Colonels scored three unanswered goals to overcome a 2-0 deficit as they picked up the 3-2 victory, giving Coach Peyton Moshier his first career win as coach of the Christian County girls’ program.

Allison Jaime gave Webster County an early 1-0 lead when she found the net at 12:00. It appeared Christian County had turned Jaime away, but the ball slipped out of the keeper’s hands and trickled into the net. The Lady Trojans added another goal less than 15 minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0.

Christian County gained the momentum back right before the half when Alayah Lander came on a run down the middle of the field and put a shot past the keeper, who had come out to try and make a play on the ball. The goal cut the Webster lead to 2-1 at the half, but more importantly, put momentum on the Christian County sideline.

The Lady Colonels tied the game up at 2-2 around the 52:00 mark when Macy Bush scored a penalty kick.

With the momentum now firmly on their side, Christian County would pull in front with about five minutes left in the match on a goal from Carliah Hobson which made it 3-2.

The Lady Colonels’ defense was able to close out the final minutes of the match to secure their first win of the season.

Christian County improves to 1-1 on the season. The Lady Colonels are set to return to action Monday when they go on the road to take on Franklin-Simpson.
