Hopkinsville (seen here against UHA Tuesday) fell to Webster County in four sets on Thursday.

After a quick loss to University Heights Academy in its season opener Tuesday, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers took Webster County to four sets before losing 3-1 in Dixon Thursday.

The Lady Trojans won 25-21, 19-25, 28-26, 25-18.

Hoptown coach Laykin Peek credited the play of Amy Toms in the opening set.

“We went on a run early in the second set and got the win,” Peek said. “We played a different game tonight (than Tuesday), and I’ve been waiting to see that come out.”

Ajayla Shiraef had 10 kills to lead the Lady Tigers while Madysen Lawrence had four kills and Mariana Vieyra had three.

Toms had 18 assists and four aces, and Lawrence had a team-high five aces. Kendra McMickens added a team-high 10 digs.

“Our seniors stepped up, not only as leaders but also as role models for our younger players that stepped up and made some big plays,” Peek said.

Hopkinsville (0-2) will host Fort Campbell Tuesday. It will be the district opener for the Lady Falcons.
