I’m not really sure what University of Kentucky athletics director Mitch Barnhart could have said that would have done justice to what UK football fans have done by buying all the season tickets available for this season.

“Thanks to the Big Blue Nation for your great response in anticipation of the upcoming season — it makes a huge difference on game day and we can’t wait to see everyone at Kroger Field this fall!” Barnhart posted on Twitter.

“We’re very excited and thankful to the fans for their great response in anticipation of the upcoming season!” Barnhart said in a release from UK. “Coach Stoops and the team love the support they get from the Big Blue Nation and we’ve all seen what a difference it can make on game day.  I can’t wait to see everyone at Kroger Field this fall!”

Similar words and message but the bottom line is that UK football fans obviously believe this team has a chance to be special and want to make sure they especially get to see home games against Tennessee, Florida and Alabama.

Over 40,200 season tickets have been sold and all 6,500 student season passes have also sold out.

The season-ticket totals are the most recorded during the coach Mark Stoops era that started in 2012  and also the most in the current configuration of Kroger Field going back to the  2015 renovation.
Florida (Sept. 30), Tennessee (Oct. 28) and Alabama (Nov. 11) are also all sellouts.

Fewer than 1,500 single-game tickets remain for the Missouri game on Oct. 14. Limited tickets remain for the first three home games against Ball State Sept. 2, Eastern Kentucky Sept. 9 and Akron Sept. 16.

Wildcat fans have secured more than 40,200 season tickets, while all of the 6,500 student season passes have also sold out.

The Big Blue Nation’s excitement for the upcoming season is represented by record sales figures this year. The season-ticket totals are the most recorded during the Mark Stoops era, dating to 2013, as well as the current configuration of Kroger Field, dating to the 2015 renovation.

The Sept. 30 game vs. Florida is now sold out, joining the Oct. 28 border battle against Tennessee and the Nov. 11 matchup with Alabama as sellouts.

  1. Does anyone know the ticket sales data for the last 15 years? I would like to see the data that spans the stadiium capacity reduction, the Stoops Era, and back to the end of the Brooks Era when the UK football program has last experienced notable success.

When UK decided it needed fewer seats available for season ticket holders to purchase in favor of special spaces in the stadium for special people. Why wouldn’t that reduction in available season ticket seats have been based on actual demand for season tickets?

It seems that even the reduced number of available season ticket seats was higher than the market demand for season ticketsat that time. If all available season tickets have been sold for this season, and if a complete sell-out of season tickets has not occurred since the stadium seating reduction, then I am glad that demand has finally reached the supply level.

However, if this program continues to improve, demand for season tickets will surge above current supply levels. When that happens, I hope it is reported, because then questions that could not be asked sooner, arise about why the UK football program ever needed a reduction in capacity for Commonwealth Stadium.
