The University Heights Academy Blazers are starting to get on a bit of a roll. Monday night, the Blazers had to battle but came away with a 2-1 road win at Trigg County.
The Wildcats were able to hang around in the match despite getting few scoring opportunities. Trigg was limited to just two shots on goal in the match, one of those finding the net.
UHA scored with 29:35 left in the 1st half as Matthew Hauret found the net on an assist from Griffin McCoy. The Blazers added another first-half goal with 5:01 left as McCoy scored on an assist from Lincoln Hauret.
Late in the contest, Trigg made things interesting as Peyton Moore scored with 9 minutes left. Alex Hurt’s shot on a free kick was saved by Hayden Fitzsimmons and Moore tapped in the rebound. Those two shots would be Trigg’s only two shots on goal as the Blazer defense controlled much of the contest.
The win was the fourth straight for the Blazers (4-3-1), who have picked up wins over Trigg County, Caldwell County, Lyon County, and Hopkins County Central.
The loss was the third straight to open the season for the Wildcats (0-3).
UHA returns to action Tuesday night when they host McCracken County. Due to the heat, the match has been delayed until a 730pm start time.
Trigg County is set to take on Calloway County Tuesday in the Kentucky 2A sectional.
