Lady Wildcats Fall at Webster in Kentucky 2A Tournament

The Trigg County Lady Wildcats put up a battle Thursday night before dropping a three-set decision in the Kentucky 2A – Section 1 volleyball tournament at Webster County High School.

The Lady Trojans ended up claiming the match, but it the Lady Wildcats pushed Webster County to the limit in two of the three sets, placing themselves in position to have the chance to knock off the Lady Trojans.

It was a tough start to the night for the Lady Wildcats as Webster cruised through the opening set 25-8. But things got a bit more interesting from that point on, a good bit more interesting.

Trigg pushed the Lady Trojans in the second set, all the way to the end. Webster County would end up claiming the set 25-22. The third set was more of the same, with the Lady Wildcats being right on the verge before Webster County closed out the match with a 25-21 win.

Trigg County got big nights from Grace Carver and Carmen Boyd. Boyd finished with six kills while Carver added 6 kills and one block. Abigail Johnson added four digs and three aces. Morgan Hicks finished with two digs, two aces, four assists, and two kills.

With the loss to Webster County, Trigg County drops to 0-5 on the season.

The Lady Wildcats are set to return to action Monday evening as they go on the road to take on the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
