The size of Livingston Central at the net turned out to be too much for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors to overcome Saturday in the semifinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic volleyball tournament. The play of Victoria Joiner and Katie Hawk was the difference as the Lady Cardinals picked up a straight set win that sent them on to the regional championship match.

The first set was tightly contested throughout. The two teams were tied six different times in the set before the Lady Cardinals were able to get just enough breathing room to claim a 25-21 win to go up one set to none. Joiner had five kills and Hawk four to lead Livingston Central. Katie Cansler had six kills and one ace in the set for Heritage Christian.

The Lady Cardinals opened the second set with the first four points and led by as many as seven before the Lady Warriors battled back to get within one point on a pair of occasions. The play of Cansler, Bralee Fowler, and Makenzie McCarty got Heritage back in the match. But it would be Livingston Central’s day as the Lady Cardinals scored the final six points of the set to close out the match with a 25-19 win. The closing run was ignited by the play of Piper Michonski. Victoria Joiner added four more kills to her total in the second set for Livingston Central.

Bralee Fowler had three kills for HCA while Katie Cansler added two kills and one ace in the set.

The loss drops the Lady Warriors to 0-7 on the season. They go on the road Tuesday to take on McLean County.
