Lyon County High School’s Anna Crawford has done quite well in both soccer and tennis. But she is also outstanding in the things she does off the field and off the court. It is those accomplishments that have put her as this week’s Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’

Anna excels in the classroom and is a 4.0 honor student at Lyon County High School, which is no small accomplishment considering all of the things that she has going on.

This summer, she attended the Governor Scholar Program. The 5-week program is for rising seniors who compete at the school and state-wide level. It provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Anna was one of the 4 participants from Lyon County.

Through her first three years of high school, Anna has been on the “All-Academic Team” which means she has been able to maintain straight As during all sports seasons, which is a significant accomplishment for today’s high school student.

As for the school community, Anna has been quite busy during her time at Lyon County High School.

She has been in FBLA all four years of high school. During her sophomore year, Anna was chosen to be historian, and in her junior year, she was elected Jr. Vice President. This year, Anna is the chapter’s Vice President. She has been a part of creating many projects such as a local fundraiser called “Tails on Trails”, and a career fair. She took first place honors at the regional conference, and placed second at state, which in turn qualified her for nationals.

Anna is also involved in the Beta Club at Lyon County. She is secretary of the Beta Club. Last year, she was appointed as the Middle School Ambassador. Anna says the proudest achievement in Beta was making it to nationals with a service project for the Dawson Springs tornado victims. The club hosted a free cookout for residents of the storm-ravaged community.

If you have met Anna, you know that she has plenty of school spirit. She has been a member of the Pep Club since her freshman year of high school. Both her freshman and sophomore years, she was chosen by a school-wide vote to become the representative for my grade. Her junior year, she was selected to be the social media advisor, where she ran the social media account, along with creating homecoming, pep rally, and game theme ideas. This year, Anna’s advisor picked her to be president of the club.

Anna is also involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Drama, Young Republican, TSA, and STLP.

Not only is she competing in sports at Lyon County, Anna is also an important part of the boys’ basketball program, as she serves as a team manager. This will be her fourth season of doing everything she can for the Lyons’ basketball team. Anna helps with laundry, filling water bottles, filming, and making sure they have everything set for games.

Anna is also active in her faith. She has attended Southland Baptist Temple in Paducah for almost ten years. She works in the nursery and teaches kindergartners. Every year, Anna also helps with Operation Christmas, which works to provide Christmas presents to people across the world.

And then, there is her athletics. She is captain of the Lady Lyons’ soccer team. Back in the spring, she pulled off a historic accomplishment for Lyon County High School by reaching the girls’ state tennis tournament and will have the chance this spring to make it back-to-back trips.

Outstanding in athletics, outstanding in the classroom, outstanding in her school community, and active in her faith, all of the makings of a true ‘Triple A.’ That is Lyon County senior Anna Crawford.
