The Trigg County boys’ soccer team rallied for a 2-2 tie against Hopkins County Central in Morton’s Gap on Tuesday, netting twice inside the final 20 minutes to deny the Storm their second win of the season.

After a scoreless first half, Hopkins Central went ahead with a pair of goals in quick succession ten minutes into the second half.  The Wildcats saw multiple scoring chances go begging throughout the match, including a handful of misses with only the keeper to beat.

However, Trigg County finally found the breakthrough with 19 minutes left on the clock when Connor Harrison scored to cut the deficit in half.  Just as the Storm had, the Wildcats followed their first goal with a second just minutes later as Marlee Reeves scored his first of the season to tie the match.

Goalkeeper Cam McCormick did his part to keep the Wildcats within striking distance, recording ten saves.

Trigg stands at 0-3-1 with a big district matchup with Lyon County in Eddyville on Thursday.  The Lyons took all three meetings last season, including a 3-1 victory in the district title match.

Hopkins Central is now 1-5-1, with a trip to Fort Campbell scheduled for next Tuesday.
