Muhlenberg County got two goals each from Nate Harper and Hayden Ashby while dealing Caldwell County its fourth-straight setback.

Harper scored his two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game as the visiting Mustangs (4-3-1) grabbed the upper hand in what eventually turned in to a 5-3 triumph.

However, Caldwell (2-6) put together a pair of quick tallies to knot the match.

First, Timothy Nichols nailed a shot from 25 yards out in the 18th minute off an assist from A.J. Padilla.

Nichols’ perfectly-placed shot hit off the far post and went into the net to cut Muhlenberg’s lead to 2-1.

Three minutes later, Padilla curved in a corner kick that also went off the far and in the net to tie things at 2-2.

Muhlenberg went back in front in the 23rd minute on the first of Ashby’s goals.

Levi Coin then finished in front off a rebound in the 33rd minute as the Mustangs rebuilt their two-goal lead at 4-2.

The Tigers appeared to gain some momentum back when Padilla scored from the top of the box off an assist from Nichols. That came in the 36th minute and made it a 4-3 ballgame at the break.

But after combining for seven goals in the first 40 minutes, the two teams put just one ball in the net in the second half.

Ashby scored his second goal in the 63rd minute to make it 5-3.

Edwar Melendez had three assists for Muhlenberg while Ashby and Coin had one assist each.

It was the fourth-straight win for the Mustangs.

Oak Shain made eight saves in the Muhlenberg net.

Caldwell will try to end its losing skid on Tuesday when it visits Mayfield (1-3).
