If you are looking for another reason to be optimistic about the upcoming Kentucky basketball season, then here it is — coach John Calipari has already started his talking season.
He was on ESPN’s SportsCenter Tuesday to talk about the upcoming season and showed flashes of swaggy Calipari, a definite sign that he really likes this team.
He emphasized again just how much the four-game sweep of the GLOBL JAM in Canada helped his team.
“The thing that was important, it was 23 (years old) and under. So you had a lot of professional players playing, and they got to see, ‘Physically, I’ve got to get stronger. I’ve got to be able to play through bumps. I’ve got to be able to play at the rim, get hit and still make shots,’” Calipari said.
The coach told the national audience that his team could “create great opportunities” this season after watching it average 27 assists per game against Germany, Africa and Canada.
“When you have that, you can create space versus plays. You can do more random basketball, because they understand and they see each other,” Calipari said on SportsCenter.
“Court awareness and how we played there. We shot the ball well — Antonio Reeves really shot the ball well. You have to have that.”

Has there been a team of his that he has not "liked"
His liking his team is equivalent to a parent loving his/her children, and that says nothing about the ability of the team to compete for championships.
Just more Calipari-Speak.
Professor, yes he does lot of talked and not backing up. But this team will be one that be fun to watch and make some noise during March. I’m hearing too much of good aspects about this team that we haven’t had the last few years. Weather we win no.9 or not only time will tell.
Just a minute there Prof – Cal hasn’t had a team with more than one shooter in many moons. Athletes yes – shooters no.
Lotsa three balls coming this GROUP !
As Cal would say “ I like this team “ !!
The Professor is right…Calipari always says he likes his team before the season starts because he knows that is what BBN wants to hear, only to bow out the first or second game of both the SEC and the NCAA tourneys. Then there are the rah rahs in BBN who ALWAYS say…wait till next year! BBN has quickly become known as a bunch of blowhards whose basketball team no longer wins at tourney time. This will never change as long as Calipari is there. I would trade 10 Caliparis for 1 Billly Clyde Gillespie right now.
you’re crazy taking Billy back. Apparently you haven’t heard what he did to the players when he was coaching here. Np chance in hell !!!
It’s not a matter of me wanting Billy Clyde back as it is me wanting to get rid of Calipari.
