After bagging six goals in a 10-4 win over Crittenden County last time out, Lyon County’s Alice Smith ran her season total to 24 with all four strikes in a shutout victory over Webster County on Friday.

The Lady Lyons peppered the Lady Trojan’s goal, forcing goalkeeper Davanne McLean into 30 saves on the night.  But regardless of McLean’s heroics, Smith wouldn’t be denied in leading Lyon County to a third win in four matches.

Olivia Adams provided assists on three of Smith’s goals, tying her for the team lead along with Anna White with five.  Richmond Herring had an easy night in goal for the Lady Lyons, making a single save to earn her first shutout of the season.

The 5-2-1 Lady Lyons will test themselves against two of the region’s best teams next week, with visits from University Heights Academy on Tuesday and Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.  Lyon County has dropped the last eight in the series with the Lady Blazers and has never beaten the Lady Maroons, including a 10-0 defeat last season.
