On a day when her putter wasn’t her best, Conlee Lindsey was able to strike the ball well off the tee and in the fairway and claim a two-stroke win Saturday at the Christian County Invitational at Western Hills Golf Course.
Lindsey shot a 3-over-par 75 to edge Meryl Grogan of Henderson County who carded a 77.
The University Heights Academy junior overcame a double-bogey on the opening hole with consecutive birdies. She eagled the par-4 fifth hole to move to two-under-par.
After a hiccup on the next three holes, Lindsey closed out the front nine with a birdie to go out at 37.
Her back nine included two birdies, including one on the par-5 18th hole to claim the victory.
McCracken County’s Sophie Hollowell shot a 78 to claim third place, and Murray’s Macy Saylor was fourth with a 79.
Henderson County won the team title with a score of 350, 17 shots better than second place McCracken County.
Campbell Lindsey shot a 106 for UHA, followed by a career-best round of 107 for Caroline Tucker and a 111 for Allie Sandifer.
UHA’s team total of 399 was good for third place.
