After a tough loss to a strong North Hardin team earlier in the day Saturday, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats decided to have a ‘devil’ of a time in its second match of the Lady Colonel Showcase.
Behind big games from the Hite sisters, Trigg County rolled to a 6-0 win over the Owensboro Lady Red Devils at the Stadium of Champions.
Leiah Hite and Lania Hite each had a hat trick to account for the six Lady Wildcat goals in the match. Hallie Joiner had two assists, while Leiah Hite assisted on one of her sister’s scores.
Lania scored three minutes into the match and Leiah added her first goal 11 minutes later.
Anna Sink had a solid match in goal, finishing with five saves.
The win gave the Lady Wildcats a split of their day after they were defeated 10-1 earlier by North Hardin.
Trigg County is trying to overcome some bumps and bruises, playing without one defensive starter for the day and without another defender for most of the Owensboro match.
Trigg County now stands at 8-2 on the season and is scheduled to host St. Mary Tuesday at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.
