While only half the teams are in place for the All A Classic state volleyball tournament, which is now less than two weeks away, the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers now know who their first match of pool play will be against. And, it will be a familiar face from last year’s tournament.
Somerset Christian won the 12th Region All A Classic tournament and will square off against the Lady Blazers in both teams opening match of the tournament. UHA and Somerset Christian, along with the champions of Region 14 and Region 15, are the teams in Pool C for the state tournament, which will get under way September 15 at Easter Kentucky University.
The 14th Region and 15th Region tournaments will get underway Tuesday.
The Lady Blazers and Somerset Christian met in pool play during the 2022 All A State tournament. After dropping the opening set of that match 25-22, UHA came back to take the next two sets 25-17 and 25-20 to take the match two sets to one.
Julia Thomas and Olivia Oakley had big matches, finishing with 15 kills and 10 kills respectively. Sarah Peebles finished the match with 32 assists.
The rematch between the two teams this season in Richmond is set for 6:45pm on the main floor in McBrayer Arena.
