
Whether or not their long layoff was a factor, who knows for sure, but it took them a little while to get going Monday night. But once the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers found their stride they quickly dropped the hammer. The Lady Blazers ripped off nine goals over a 34-minute span to take a 10-0 win over the Christian County Lady Colonels at the Stadium of Champions.
The Lady Blazers opened quickly as Kendall Hancock found the net off an assist from Audrey Perry just five minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead. But the Lady Colonels’ defense turned away the UHA attack for the next 15 minutes or so to stay in the contest.
But then the dam burst for the Lady Blazer offense. Alyssa Grise scored off an assist from Michelle Salas. Kendall Hancock scored for the second time on an assist from Skylar Cantrell at the 35:00 to make it 3-0. Cantrell then scored four minutes later to give UHA a 4-0 halftime lead.
The landslide just kept coming against the Christian County Lady Colonels as the second half got underway. Kendall Hancock got the hat trick at the 44:00. She would score her 4th goal of the night four minutes later on an assist from Alyssa Grise to make it 6-0. Just a minute after that, Hancock found the net for the fifth time on a pass from Audrey Perry to extend the lead to 7-0.
Hancock returned the favor within a minute of play as Perry scored to make it 8-0. Skylar Cantrell scored a header off an assist from Alyssa Grise to run the lead out to 9-0. Kate Gibson then ended the match with a goal at the 54:00 to give the Lady Blazers the 10-0 win.
Madison Williams had a quiet night in goal for the Lady Blazers finishing with one shot as the Christian County offense had its troubles moving the ball down the field against the Lady Blazer defense.
With the win, which comes in UHA’s first match since August 19, the Lady Blazers improve to 4-0 on the season.
Christian County falls to 2-6.
